5Different forms of birth control are available to women of all ages. When talking to your doctor, you expect to have all the valid information. Discuss with your doctor in depth about the pros and cons of oral contraceptives as well as the IUD's

What is mirena?

Bayer pharmaceuticals manufactured mirena. It is a birth control in the form of an intrauterine device (IUD). This device was inserted in the female and helped prevent pregnancy for up to five years by releasing a steady amount of hormones that are normally found in oral contraceptives. This method is known as a reversible method to aid women that find a daily oral contraceptive hard to take. This product was approved by the FDA in 1991.

What is the harmful effects of mirena?

Thousands of cases have been documented of mirena users experiencing device expulsion, device dislocation, and vaginal hemorrhaging. Other mirena users experienced dangerous ectopic pregnancies, PID, and penetration of the uterine wall.

A lawsuit has been filed against Bayer pharmaceuticals for the documented harmful effects it has caused its recipients. Bayer motioned the supreme court to have the lawsuit contained to the state of New Jersey and it was denied in January 2013. The nature of the lawsuit is specifically geared towards the lack of a warning label on the product. Bayer failed to report all the documented side effects of the product for the public to see. The lack of information prevented the public from making a well informed decision.
